Imani! Dancers is a faith based dance company specializing in gospel and African American heritage material.
The Imani! Dancers take their name from the Swahili word for “faith.” The ensemble began by performing at the 1989 annual Martin Luther King Celebration at Augustana College. Through modern and ethnic dance expression, the company seeks to present choreography that lifts the spirit. A vital part of their repertory reflects the rich African-American heritage. Imani! Dancers has performed in concert and informal presentations throughout the Quad Cities and surrounding areas at colleges, churches, museums, festivals, and other community events.
