BLUESKOOL

BluesKool will feature legendary bluesmen, Hal Reed, Ellis Kell and Donald Kenzie.  BluesKool’s mission is to educate the public about the native art form of blues-related music.  It also is about keeping a music tradition alive. The blues traces its roots to African Americans who migrated from the south up the Mississippi River in the 1920s and 1930s, in search of new opportunities.

Ellis Kell is Director of Programming & Education for the River Music Experience.  He also writes about blues music both local and national in "True Blue", each month in the Entertainment section of The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus, online at www.qconline.com and www.wqad.com.

Since the Ellis Kell Band first performed at Rascals in Moline, in 1990, it has been the recipient of Reader’s Choice Awards year after year.  The band has been featured on The House of Blues Radio Hour and The Red Rooster Lounge — nationally syndicated radio shows.
