WESTBROOK SINGERS

The Westbrook family lineage includes five living generations. The siblings are the children of the Rev. Charles and Barbara Westbrook. They formed the choir for their father’s congregation in Rock Island and later at Community Outreach Church of God in Christ, East Moline. The original group formed in 1975 and included all 11 children. The current ensemble features siblings Delores Westbrook Tingle, Gary Westbrook, Cynthia Westbrook Bryson, and Brenda Westbrook Lee.

Over the past few years, the group has changed in its make up but not in its focus. Though the group continues to record, the main goal is ministry. Many lives both young and old have been touched by this group and God is continually blessing them.

This is truly one of today's most dynamic groups, a group that has stood the test of time. Their beginnings were small, their history is large and their future is without boundaries.

The Westbrook Singers' sound has often been described as both contemporary and traditional. ""Their complex jazz harmonies blend smartly and lovingly, and evince such technical competence that I would be surprised if some or all of the members haven't had some level of vocal training. Of course, the effortlessness with which they interact vocally is something that only siblings who grow up singing with one another in the living room can develop."" At the same time, each individual member of this group has their own original and unique sound and vocal abilities that allows for variety and adds to their special sound. The Westbrook Singers are a magnetic ensemble with an incredible sound that reaches into your innermost being. Their aim is to fill a spiritual void amid the turmoil and confusion of the world today while stressing family unity. The Westbrook Singers have a message filled with hope, and it is delivered with amazing grace. No doubt, all who hear them have a new appreciation of gospel music. It is a Godly experience that you will never forget.
